ABOUT THE DENNIS BOYS

THE DENNIS BOYS is a Black independent family drama loosely based on the experiences of the writer/director Stephen Shaffer set in the Philadelphia suburbs. It centers around two brothers with conflicting views and agendas when it comes to caring for their ailing mother. 

The film takes audiences into a world rarely seen in cinema: a middle class suburban Black family. As the family navigates disability, the emotional demands of caregiving, and the financial realities of navigating the healthcare system, they each dive further into their separate private lives. Underscoring the main drama is a fantasy world depicted in stop motion animation.
